Celebrating Quiet Perseverance: Honoring Patricia Polischuk’s Impact and the Power of Little By Little

There are moments in life when we pause, step back, and simply sit in awe of someone’s journey — feeling a deep gratitude they are part of our lives. Kirsten Stanger and I recently had the privilege of witnessing our dear friend, colleague, and business partner at Talent Wise Collective, Patricia Polischuk receive the Distinguished Governor Award at Wilfrid Laurier University, in recognition of the extraordinary service and dedication she has given to the university’s growth and community.

In the opening remarks, Deborah MacLatchy, President and Vice-Chancellor of Laurier, quoted a Tanzanian proverb: "kidogo kidogo hujaza kibaba," meaning "little by little, fills the measure," or "haba na haba hujaza kibaba." Patricia exemplifies this truth. So humble in her actions that even those closest to her might not have fully recognized how deep and wide her impact truly is. Her life has been built on quiet perseverance, humility, and unwavering dedication.  It was a reminder that every small effort, when nurtured with humility and persistence, can truly shape a legacy.

Who in your life is achieving their dreams, little by little? Perhaps it’s someone quietly making a difference — deserving of your celebration, your acknowledgment, your gratitude.
